Clove Oil – Syzygium Aromaticum: A highly aromatic, warming herb, clove is widely cultivated in Tanzania, Indonesia, Madagascar, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and South America, with Tanzania being the largest commercial cultivator. Clove oil is considered to be an energetically “hot” herb. Clove is used in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) to break up stagnant energy by encouraging chi (energy) flow, and is used to support the kidney, spleen, and stomach meridians and, most commonly, for dental hygiene. The main component in this oil is eugenol, which is thought to be responsible for clove’s analgesic effect. Clove oil is often used in preparations as a topical anesthetic.
